We are growing and moving to a new site adjacent to Dobbies Garden Centre
We are delighted to bring you some exciting news!
This summer we will be growing our practice and moving to a fantastic new site, just 1.6 miles down the road adjacent to Dobbies Garden Centre at Unit 6, Dobbies Garden Centre, Balborough Links, Barlborough, Chesterfield S43 4XN.
Having outgrown our site in Clowne it has been difficult to offer the level of service we want to. We have been developing a new spacious practice with additional services and facilities, which we believe will meet your needs and exceed your expectations!
Our new site will work closely and complement the range of services already offered by our branches in Chesterfield and Mansfield.
We are thrilled to confirm that we will be relocating to the new site in August 2022 – and we can’t wait! We are now busy planning the move to ensure there is as little disruption as possible to our clients and patients, who are always our main priority.
Services and Facilities
This much larger site will offer you and your pets an exciting range of services and facilities in a modern environment whilst maintaining a warm and friendly feel. In a fantastic location, the site will also have its own separate entrance with ample on-site parking including disabled access.
The site will enable us to grow the surgery to include:
- an additional consulting room, making three in total – allowing a greater availability of appointments
- large and modern operating theatre with the latest veterinary equipment
- spacious reception with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs
- separate dog and cat hospital wards – keeping stress to a minimum for your pets
- walk-in kennels for large breeds
- separate dental suite
- in-house laboratory and digital x-ray facilities
Complex Surgical Procedures and Referrals
Our new operating theatres will have an extensive range of surgical equipment, instrumentation and state of the art technology. Our orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue surgeon, Jessica Podmore DVM PhD CertSAS MRCVS, will be offering a range of complex surgical procedures for our own patients and will welcome referrals from practices in the surrounding areas.
New Look – same faces!
To match our fantastic modern interior, we are also giving our signage a slight facelift. The name above the door will simply be – Carrick Vets. The same familiar, warm and friendly faces you know so well – as well as amazing new additions to the team – will still be inside to greet you!

Make a day of it
Thanks to our new location, you will also be able to enjoy all the fantastic facilities on offer at dog-friendly Dobbies Garden Centre. In addition to plants, houseplants, everything you need for your garden, and a foodhall, Dobbies offers a great range of pet products, including pet food, healthcare, toys and accessories. The restaurant has a dog -friendly area as well so you can treat yourself to a tasty breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea as part of your visit. You’ll find The Muddy Paw dog groomers on site too.
We are passionate about giving you the best customer service and clinical care for your pets and this move will enable us to do both.
