Practice standards

Carrick Veterinary Group is inspected and approved by the RCVS Practice Standard Scheme. This scheme encourages excellent service, with high level facilities and practice safety.

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) inspections check all aspects of practice life from cleanliness and hygiene to inpatient care, staff training and how we handle client records. The PSS is a voluntary initiative to accredit veterinary practices in the UK. It is an extremely important scheme which we are very proud to be a part of. Through setting standards and carrying out regular inspections, the scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care.

The criteria that is required for small animal practices for general practice status, is of a primary care practice which also aims to facilitate the achievement of high standards of clinical care, offer and encompass many of the facilities required for veterinary nurse training standards including state-of-the-art equipment, such as digital X-ray, endoscopy, blood pressure monitoring, in-house blood analysers, ECG, orthopaedic equipment and ultrasound monitors. A general practice must meet all the core standards as well as additional general practice standards.
